I know this isn’t really the topic here, but-- the history of the medium of songwriting is my main expertise, and from my snobbish and pedantic position, the idea that Katy Perry is somehow less “good” than any of REM’s music past their second album doesn’t stand up to what I consider objective scrutiny. So-- zooming out a bit from your already-thoughtful take on how music affects the brain, nobody should judge your parenting based on that.
