Growing up, my best friend was Japanese. I was enamored with Japan. I loved your article. As Psychologists, we could dive even deeper right? I am curious though, what happens when a person does litter? Are they publicly shamed? Given a ticket? Do they get points docked from their Social Credit Score?🤷🏻♀️
The Wakisashi. Wow. That was quite the piece. Thanks for reporting. I’ve never been to Japan. Would like to. The cleanliness sounds nice. And it’s one of the fountain pen capitals of the world, which I’m fairly obsessed with. How does the individual and collective mental health compare to the US?
I loved Japan. I loved Tokyo and Kyoto. I loved that the Japanese still have their own culture. I don’t like that everywhere else I go in the world seems to be so similar. I don’t like that we are making everything so homogeneous- as you said there is beauty in a place with its own distinct culture and values. My husband (who is from a south Asian country) said- why isn’t there more diversity- they are racist. I don’t see it that way at all. I loved getting to truly experience and try to navigate a different world.
I love love love Japan. But the lack of trash cans drives me nuts
Cultural values are not the same here.

Thank you for reading. It's quite the trip. I really love this country, and my daughter only more so
