The Frontier Psychiatrist does a lot of irritating virtue signaling in the process of being the leading daily health and it’s care publication, written by one person1 in the daily-newsletters-you-are-vaguely-aware-of space.
One of the most annoying things I do is insist, for the time being, on writing something daily. I'm not under the misapprehension that you, dear reader, read this every day. Who can keep up?!
No one. I have dreadfully accurate metrics on my readership, so I know this. You also notice that I can write TFPs articles faster than you can read them. Many things can be said about me, for good or ill, but none are “he doesn’t write a daily healthcare newsletter.” It is a show-off move, and I’ve got an ego about that, and it is obnoxious. I know. However, I write many things, and some are worth not missing in the torrent of things some people2 dump in your inbox daily.
This year-end roundup is here to catch you up with some highlighted reviews from readers!

To your author, this was among the more surprising things in my series on drugs we prescribe. The risks from ambient (zolpidem) are just bonkers high.

This was one of my most-read pieces of the year!

How to Read Academic Research Like a Lazy Pro
- highlights one major miss from me…”You missed the single most important factor. Zip down through the paper, and look at the financial conflicts of interest. Psychiatry research is massively influenced by fCOI's, and any paper with them is completely suspect.”
The Mental Health Crisis...Crisis
Reader
says: “Great research, writing, and reconsidering here, Owen, as always,” and gripes “no one wants to read about suicide before a Holiday."Tough luck Matt, tough luck.
It would be best if you read those…
On average, but I do have guests!
Ok, me.
This post led me to some good stuff from you that I did indeed miss-- and this made me think that I should do a similar post, and then I experienced an immediate enthusiasm lag when it occurred to me that now I’ll have to figure out how to do those links that make your essay look so clean and readable.
