It's a blatant case of "Russia, if you're listening..." UnitedHealth is engaged in racketeering. The more breaches there are into the Change payment system, the better off they are. They financially strangle medical practices, effectively holding them hostage, and then acquire them at a bargain through Optum when these practices have no choice but to shut down.

I hate to say it, but at this point, it seems necessary for the government to intervene and investigate what's happening within the UnitedHealth organization. It's evidently in UnitedHealth's interests for the chaos in American healthcare to continue.

But in all seriousness, I was reading about HIPAA compliance on one dot gov website or another, and they recommended against the local storage of any data. No data stored on laptops, desktops, external hard drives, thumb drives, etc, it’s all more secure if it’s up in the cloud. This is woefully naive advice. Cloud storage makes healthcare data vastly more vulnerable to bad actors than having anything on my encrypted hard drive on my fingerprint accessible laptop.
