Not to be left out, I made up a threatening letter to myself.

There's been difficult letters going around to academic journals. There were years, before this one, when being the editor of a highly technical journal like CHEST—an academic publication dedicated to highly political topics like pneumonia, pneumothorax, and other pathology of the part of the body right below the neck and above the abdomen—was a great way to stay out of the limelight. However, they've been getting letters from the government asking them to include other perspectives. Like for example, where are all the articles about feet? These are the questions we demand the editors of journals like CHEST to answer.

I can imagine the editor of CHEST, on an unsuccessful date, trying to explain that it's not actually a pornographic magazine, it's a peer reviewed publication! Those were the good old days.

Today, I am going to pretend that this publication got a threatening letter also, from a nefarious source, as a way to garner publicity, no matter how unwarranted, for my backwater…
