He’s a psychiatrist and co-founder of Outro Health. I’m an advisor to that company, too. They exist to allow patients to taper off of antidepressant medication safely. I’ve written about the lack of efficacy in these drugs before— Inessential Pharmacology. Mark’s book is the Maudsley Deprescribing Guide. It offers guidance to clinicians on how to safely discontinue these medicines.
In parts one and two, we learned that Mark trained as a psychiatrist and psychologist. However, his brain problems were offered treatment with medicines that, themselves, caused side effects, and those piled up to a disabling condition…and the thing that almost killed him…was trying to stop.
