"Don't Just Say Hi" On The Hacker Slack..and other Change Healthcare Stories
I follow the story-- so you don't have to.
The Frontier Psychiatrists videos on TikTok are now page one google search results! (Search: “united cyberattack”) at least from my phone:
And my most recent TikTok videos have done way better than this newsletter—15 seconds is a much more realistic attention span for most of us. Not content to simple toot my own horn, I also checked twitter, so you dot’t have to.
Tech security writer Andy Greenberg at Wired reached out to RandomHub, which given the literal scammer profession of those involved may or may not turn out to have something to do with BlackCat/ALPHV…
I have an alternate theory—they are ex-Big Health call center employees who won’t disclose info until they have a HIPAA release, prior auth, as a second level appeal. The math adds up! Except the 12 day time frame for their ransom is 2 days faster than you have to wait to hear about that prior auth.
Regardless, I'd like to congratulate our RandomHub team members for getting the hang of the work culture they are interacting with so rapidly—also reportedly from the RansomHub dark web site:
“please don't just say hello in the chat. If you feel it's a bit brusque to simply say hi and ask your questions you can still preface your message with as many pleasantries as you see fit. It may seem trivial, but asking your question before getting that initial salary reply also allows for asynchronous communication. if the other party is away, and you leave before they come back, they can still answer your question, instead of just starting at a hello and wondering what they missed. When done right – everyone's happy”
Way to get the hang of it. You'll be working at UnitedHealthcare in no time.
I was out on the street yesterday, and people were just standing around, staring into the sky, wondering when the Cyber attacks on United healthcare—and all of our personal protected health information—would stop.
The Frontier Psychiatrists newsletter is clearly a global phenomenon.
Meanwhile, and I wish this was a joke, the United healthcare pageThat promises us an update to the active payer list for relay, a clearing house which is part of change healthcare, is not only not updated every evening, but actually it's not even an active link.
It is text, with no link. I'm gonna share the screenshot, but if you went to the page and tried to click on it, well, it's not a link.
Change, it turns out, will also deliver when the time is right. Not now.
