The CEO and founder, as well as the Chief Medical Officer of ADHD telehealth platform—and now alleged Fraudulent drug ring—Done have been arrested.
The unsettling part of this indictment by the DOJ, for the rest of telehealth prescribing of control substances, is that the DOJ tried to make it as clear as possible that there's more coming, maybe. What follows is the title of the press release from the department of justice:
Justice Department’s First Criminal Drug Distribution Prosecutions Related to a Digital Health Company That Distributed Controlled Substances Via Telemedicine
Did they really need to use the word first? That could have just said “Justice Apartments criminal drug prosecution related to….”
It's also a bit surprising that Attorney General Merrick Garland has a quote in the press release. The reason I say this is surprising is because I've written a lot about enforcement actions against Pharma companies, which this is not of course. It is usually more junior DOJ officials who are quoted in the press release.
“Those seeking to profit from addiction by illegally distributing controlled substances over the internet should know that they cannot hide their crimes and that the Justice Department will hold them accountable.”
—US AG Merrick Garland
