We are very excited to share with you that The Frontier Psychiatrists Daily, co-hosted by Dr. Carlene MacMillan and Dr. Owen Muir, has made it from the finalist group to the first class of Clubhouse’s Creator First accelerator programs. This is a big win for the mental health field to have psychiatric experts amongst the winners.
Clubhouse, the drop-in audio chat platform, represents an unprecedented opportunity to share accurate, accessible information about mental health and medical information with the general public on a staggering, international scale.
As if In a blink of an eye, now we connect regularly with inspiring individuals in the mental health, advocacy, medicine, policy, media, and tech spaces. These clubhouse members, from LA to the UK to the Middle East and beyond, allow us to challenge old assumptions as quickly as we co-create new answers.
One of the unexpected aspects of Clubhouse’s Creator First accelerator program is the camaraderie among class members. We have already begun to collaborate with others in the class, enriching our content. We were thrilled to see that Brandon Batstone and his show about the healing potential of psychedelics joined us, and is another important step in psychedelic medicine becoming more mainstream. Our longtime friend, Lila Donnalo also has brought sex positive culture to the platform—and had connected with another therapist on our team, Annie Block before we had a chance to introduce them.
It is encouraging that The Frontier Psychiatrists Daily was selected for the Clubhouse inaugural Creators First Class. Clubhouse is taking action to reduce stigma and shine a spotlight—or maybe sound a trumpet?—on the importance of mental health experts being the ones doing the influencing.
We’d like to thank everyone who has collaborated with us on this journey including Sphere co-founder Michelle Bernabe. Dr. Sohaib Imtiaz, founder of Human Behaviour Club, the largest club on Clubhouse. Nidhi Tewari, LCSW, for her ongoing collaboration with her Mental Health Matters Club on Clubhouse. Chris Vazquez as our Emcee, production help from Kerry Donahue, a Veteran NPR/podcast producer, and Liberation Iannillo for digital marketing.
