The Frontier Psychiatrists is a daily health themed newsletter. The original version of this started as a companion documentation of a show Carlene and I did on Clubhouse. I'm Owen Muir, M.D., and I write this for the most part myself now. Carlene MacMillan is my wife.
She's also an excellent psychiatrist. She's a great writer, better than me, and definitely better at the grammar things. That having been said, the task of cranking out a daily absurdist health-themed newsletter has fallen to me because… I felt like doing it.
Carlene does a lot of remarkable work. For example, the details at Fermata, our clinic focused on treatment and research with neuromodulatory and rapid-acting treatments in NYC, are correctly addressed because of her efforts. She also has a non-trivial social media presence.
Recently, she appeared on the KevinMD podcast, discussing the role of ketamine in the management of psychiatric conditions. It is for an audience of general medical doctors. I'm going to share that interview in today's brief update.
The Frontier Psychiatrist is a newsletter; I write most of it. But it was always conceived of as a movement or a conversation. It was born as a group effort.
I'm thrilled, but recently, more of my frontier-ing colleagues, not all of whom are actual literal psychiatrists, like
, , , , , and others have been joining me here in the newsletter. So, I hope you enjoy this interview with Carlene, and I also hope if you like the newsletter and you want to consider a guest post, feel free to reach out. I love collaboration. It's one of my favorite things. It's one of our favorite things. I'm proud of Carlene and all her work to advance the field of medicine every day of her life. She also advances my life daily, and that's also worth mentioning. The Frontier Psychiatrists: we’re in this together!

As of today, there are 440 posts, most of which get archived. Many are worth the read. In writing this, I realized I was also a KevinMD guest back in the day! I’ll include that in a footnote!1
