Write more.
That sounds glib, because it is. It turns out also be excellent advice! As
points out in his interview with :Recently, Matt has been a trailblazer once again. His excellent Substack, Slow Boring, is one of the best out there
The trailblazing part is that he just writes every day. He writes things he agrees with. He writes things he doesn't agree with later.
The amount of time you're spending not writing something? That is time you could be spending Writing something. For example, you could write about not being able to write:
I struggle to put down words on paper. I stare at the screen. Drink water. Look at my phone. Go back to the empty white document. Drink some more water. Fidget with the broken skin around my fingernails.
You're just narrating what's going on right now. I'm writing an article about writing more articles so that people will feel comfortable writing more articles. One of the ways I'm doing that is by thinking out loud! What you write is less important than how much you write.
